Electrical Waste Recycling and Disposal

Electrical waste is currently the fastest-growing waste stream in the UK. New technology quickly replaces old equipment. To address this issue, the WEEE directive was introduced to govern how e-waste is handled and recycled. At Pure Planet Recycling, we specialise in offering cost-effective electrical waste recycling services to businesses across England.

While many other companies solely focus on computer recycling, our services cover almost any electrical equipment. We will collect the items from you and ensure that they are recycled legally and in an environmentally friendly manner.

The electrical equipment we process is often at the end of its life or damaged beyond repair, making material recovery the best recycling practice. An automated plant handles the recovery of the materials, which involves breaking them down into small segments and segregating the materials into large containers. This is a complex process that requires advanced machinery. The recovered materials are then reintroduced into the manufacturing chain to create new materials and products. The reuse of materials such as plastics and metal is highly favourable to using virgin materials. You can find more information about our recycling process here.

If you require assistance with your electrical waste disposal needs, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our team is always ready to discuss your needs and provide tailored solutions to meet them.

How Does Our Electrical Waste Recycling Service Work?

Disposing of your e-waste with us is as easy as:

Step 1

You contact us, with photos and listing the equipment you have. Please also provide the collection address and access restrictions.

STEP 2

A quotation is then provided for the collection or delivery of your waste.

STEP 3

Once accepted, a collection is arranged using our own secure transportation and staff.

STEP 4

We load the equipment into our vehicles and provide duty of care waste notes.

STEP 5

Any equipment that could have a second life is reused. All other materials are recycled, to recover the raw materials they are made from.

STEP 6

Once the recycling is complete, we invoice and provide a recycling certificate for the load.

What Is Electrical Waste?

Electrical waste refers to discarded electronic/electrical equipment no longer functional or wanted. This includes all domestic household electricals, computers, mobile phones, televisions etc. These devices contain valuable materials, such as metals and plastics, which can be recycled. However, they also contain harmful substances like lead and mercury that need to be handled properly to avoid environmental damage.

How much e-waste is recycled in the UK?

As of 2024, approximately 57% of the UK’s electrical waste is collected and recycled. Whilst the UK ranks among the top countries in Europe for e-waste recycling, there is still room for improvement. We are missing opportunities to recover valuable materials like copper and gold and prevent environmental harm.
